Christmas Market River Cruises
If you haven’t experience a European river cruise, it a great adventure during the Christmas holidays. Couple advantages during the holidays, without a doubt the cheapest time to go. Compared to the same cruise during peak travel time, you are talking less than half the expense. Fewer crowds, though you will find the markets themselves fairly crowded at certain times.
Personally I taken two Christmas Market Cruises, both with Grand Circle Travel and love both trips. First trip was from Nurnberg to Vienna along the Danube and the second trip was from Frankfurt to Amsterdam along the Rhine and other rivers.
Grand Circle Travel also know as GCT caters to the older group of travelers. I believe I read someone that the average age is over 70 years old. However you will find travelers of all ages on these cruises.
I’ve never taken an ocean type cruise, but from what I’ve read as well as those I’ve talk to, there is a world of difference between them. Much to my surprise, I was told that the cuisine on GCT surpasses that of the ocean vessels.
A great thing about river cruises is the fact that the ship is basically your hotel, no need to be packing and unpacking numerous times. The cruises includes most if not all meals and in the case of GCT the airfare is included as well from selected cities with a modest increase in other cities.
Grand Circle Travel owns it’s own ships, is an American company based in Boston. Vast majority of travelers will be American vs. several other cruise lines where you would get foreign travelers as well.
If you need further information go to http://www.gct.com/ for reservations and or list of all cruises and departure dates. If you use my Customer number with GCT which is 378660 when booking your trip you will receive a discount. In return I will get a credit as well towards a future trip.
On my website at Travel $ense you should find two articles specific to the two Christmas Market River Cruises I took a few years ago. Those articles will be on the website beginning in July 2010.
